here all welcome guys..a new article on worlds-largest-solar-bridge-crosses-the-river-thame..............................

Over 100 bridges, 20 tunnels, and six public ferries cross the River Thames, but only Blackfriars will shine in photovoltaic glory. Solarcentury is working in conjunction with other public transportation and facility upgrades to reduce pollution and congestion, improve the passenger environment, and act as a catalyst for regenerating some of London’s more deprived areas. Lengthening the station’s deck will require 14,000 tons of new materials. In an effort to keep environmental impact to a minimum, hefty loads will be transported by barge instead of via London’s crowded roads.

Originally built in 1884, Blackfriars station is overdue for the retrofit, which will bring this steam-era railway into the 21st century and give travelers direct access to key local attractions including the Globe Theater and the Tate Modern. The station’s redevelopment is part of Network Rail’s £5.5 billion Thameslink program, which aims to improve the interchange between the national rail and the London Underground. Once the upgrade is complete, as many as 24 trains will be able to run the tracks every hour, nearly doubling the station’s capacity. Upping the amount of north-south traffic along the Thames will be a good thing when the 2012 Olympics come to town.

“Station buildings and bridges are fixed parts of our urban landscape,” said Derry Newman, Chief Executive of Solarcentury in a statement, “it is great to see that this one will be generating renewable energy every day into the future. For people to see that solar power is working is a vital step towards a clean energy future.”

Brisbane may have a solar-powered footbridge and there are plenty of other green bridges out there, but Blackfriars Bridge is set to hold the record for the longest — at least for now.

is it good to use plastics and papers????

plastics.........plastics plastics every where???

what it is

A plastic material is any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic organic solids used in the manufacture of industrial products. Plastics consist of polymers of high molecular mass, and may contain other substances to improve performance and/or reduce production costs. Monomers of plastic are either natural or synthetic organic compounds.

There are two types of plastics: thermoplastics and thermosetting polymers . Thermoplastics are the plastics that do not undergo chemical change in their composition when heated and can be moulded again and againsome of the examples are polynomials.really we are surrounded by these plastics and papers every where i still remember that around 10 year's before while buying the flowers the shopkeeper used to give in leaves but now plastics .everywhere plastics really we have to think about this because plastics cannot be decomposed easily especially those of less microns(a very thin one)

recently i went to a marriage in mylapore i saw in dining hall that in table they were using some paper rolls and above that they were placing the banana leaves. And when the lunch was finished they simply rolled the paper rolls and put it into the garbage bin and the placed next set of paper rolls upcoming people .Earlier when no paper rolls were there at that time the banana leaves were directly throwed and the leaves were eaten by cattle but now these stuffs will be directly burned and what about the pollution and all??that's fine still they are using the natural banana leaves recently these leaves are maden into plastics again so what about those cattles who eat those plastic leaves???

matte is that to control the use of plastics we can do it easily if we think we can

the simple steps are

1.use paper bags instead of plastic bags or even u can use the cloth bags

2.do not burn the plastics(avoid burning it)

3.try to reuse the plastic bags

4.avoid getting the polythene bags from shops mainly do not use the polythene with less microns

try these simple steps so that u can save our earth from pollution because these all are in your hands.......
